Project Description

The beautiful Fardagafoss waterfall is located close to the main road of Seydisfjorður. The uppermost tier contains a pair of attractive drops back-to-back against scenic basalt cliffs.

There is a marked trail from a parking area to the waterfall which takes around half an hour. This is a particularly scenic trail as you can enjoy view over the whole valley along with the beautiful gorge. The final part of the hike is very steep and you will need to use the chain that is fastened in the cliff for support when going down to the walk, but it is well worth it. There used to be a cave behind the waterfall and the legend said that if you entered the cave and made a wish it would come true. Now that the cave has collapsed it is well worth the try to just make the wish by the waterfall.
